Hi All,

Opticmix will be open for business from 9am on Wednesday 22nd September. The studio will be operating under Alert Level 3 Guidelines, you can find out more about those here: Business at Alert Level 3.

In brief: no studio visits; work can be emailed or dropped into our letterbox; proofs will be couriered at our cost; completed works can either be couriered as per usual at cost to the client, or contactless pick ups can be arranged by text, phone or email; hygiene and cleaning protocols are in place in line with Level 3 guidelines.

Give us a ring or email if you would like more details on our operation at Level 3 or if you have work you’d like us to get to.

Take care out there.

Cheers,

Kevin

Raúl Ortega Ayala “The Zone” – Te Tuhi

“Since his first visit to the area surrounding the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in northern Ukraine in 2013, Mexican-born artist Raúl Ortega Ayala has been involved in a seven-year research project centered on what he calls ‘sites of amnesia and historical detritus’.”

Currently showing at Te Tuhi in Pakuranga, this is a great exhibition to go and engage in post lock-down. Opticmix printed some large format photographic prints that are displayed alongside large scale wallpaper prints.

“The Zone” is a current exhibition running until the 16th of August 2020.

“Pati Solomona Tyrell is a founding member of Auckland’s Fafswag collective, whose members proudly celebrate their LGBTQ Pacific-Islander identities. Photographing himself and his circle in their performance guises, his work traverses the documentary and the directorial.”

Opticmix had the pleasure of printing work for Pati for the “Orcales” Exhibtion at Wellington City Gallery.

These exhibited works are all large format (900mm x 600mm) photographic prints on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth (305gsm).
